  • What should I expect during my 15-minute consultation?
The purpose of a consultation is to determine the intention for services; to begin laying out a plan of action. This is an opportunity for us to determine if we are a good fit for each other. If it is determined this relationship is not a good fit, Seaside Life Services will support you in finding a therapist who can better assist your needs. In your phone/video consultation we will discuss: Your reason for seeking services and the type of support services best suited to meet your needs. Seaside Life Services therapeutic style and treatment modalities. The No Surprises Act (Good Faith Estimate), Seaside Life Services fee schedule, and your sliding scale options. How to schedule and what to expect in your intake session. Any additional questions or concerns you may have. It's natural to be nervous. You aren't expected to schedule right away or at all.
  • What should I expect from my intake appointment?
Congratulations! You have embarked on the next step in your journey. Your intake appointment is not a format of sessions to come. This is an opportunity to start building the therapeutic relationship and framework for your therapeutic sessions. After your consultation appointment, you will be invited to complete your client portal and schedule your intake session. Once your appointment request has been received and accepted, you will receive an email notifying you to sign-in and complete the intake, assessment, consent, and financial forms. It is imperative these forms are read carefully and completed prior to your scheduled session. Failure to do so may cause a delay in service or cancelation of your appointment. Seaside Life Services will review your completed paperwork with you addressing any areas for concern and questions needed to streamline your therapeutic process. Together, your goals and timelines for treatment will be determined.
  • What should I expect in my therapy appointments moving forward?
It's time to get to work! The intake session provided us a plan to work from. The therapeutic process can begin. The appointment location will be depending on your individual situation. The structure will be determined on your individual goals for treatment and the information discussed during your appointment. You can expect to revisit information discussed in previous appointments. Assessments can happen at any time; this is a normal part of therapy. You can expect realignment of goals, as goals are completed or as your situation changes; your goals for treatment will change as well. An increase or decrease in service, referrals for additional support or a higher level of care, or completion/termination of services. Communication is key to any relationship. If you have a question or concern, you are encouraged to address them. As with any relationship it takes time to develop a rhythm. Do not worry, we will get there.
